"Crude" is the story of one of the largest and most controversial lawsuits in history. This is the case of a community of 30,000 natives of the Amazon jungle of Ecuador, who accused Chevron Texaco of crimes against the exploitation of their lands, their freedom and their lives.
Chevron has poured toxics for over 30 years in consentimineto governments and administrations, contaminating land, air and water Ecuadorian Amazon region, an area of \u200b\u200b14mil square kilometers, now called "dead zone"
The ecological disaster is such that the case has come to be known as the Chernobyl Amazonia. As a result, over the years, have soared in the deaths from cancer, leukemia and cases of births of babies with severe malformations and other diseases.
The documentary shows us the drama of a complicated situation and analyzed from every point of view of the conflict : from the allegations of the Indians, to the defense of the defendants, the conflict between economic interests, human rights and environmental movements, media manipulation, or the power of large corporations.
The film was shot in 3 years , required the slaughter of filmmaker Joe Berlinger and his team, working in an area contaminated by toxic gases and the security risk by border with Colombia.
